The Roots & Routes Peer Coach Academy
1. November 2015 – 31. October 2017
The project “The ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Academy – Qualification of Peer Coaches for cultural youth work” (RRPCA) is addressed to young people with artistic skills from five federal states in Germany who want to become peer coaches in cultural youth work.
Since 2008, partner organizations in the international ROOTS & ROUTES Network have developed a concept and a curriculum for a cultural peer coach education program: made for young artists from the fields of performing arts and media who want to impart their competences to people of their age or to younger ones. They might also want to establish themselves as professional coaches in youth centres or schools as part timers or even as full time workers.
Outlines of the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach education:
- Competencies in 3 different areas are developed: artistic competencies, educational competencies and self management/ entrepreneurship competencies.
- The curriculum includes at least 168 h (6 x 28 h = 6 ECTS), consisting of at least 60 h of theoretical studies in seminars and at least 60 h of practical experiences. In addition participants can join international exchange programs, reflecting lessons, etc.
- Those who have finished the 168 h successfully will be handed out the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach certificate, which is not yet officially accredited, but is accepted by currently 11 ROOTS & ROUTES member organizations in 10 European countries.
The project „The ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Academy“ is funded by Stiftung Deutsche Jugendmarke e. V. and HIT-Stiftung.
