Projekt: The ROOTS & ROUTES Experience 2022

In summer 2022 the time has finally come again: Around 40 young artists from different countries and cultural backgrounds will meet for two weeks of living and creating together in the Landesmusikakademie NRW in the area of Heek-Nienborg and develop an interdisciplinary stage performance. Professional artists will coach and support them along the way. The result will be shown in cologne on the 12th and 13th of July, as well as at a public rehearsal in Heek on the 9th of July. In this Project, working methods that were developed during previous projects like the award-winning RRXP17 and RRXP19 will be developed further, Ideas will be connected and the different art forms of the participants will be brought together under the artistic direction of Sophie Laffont (RRXP19).

The years 2020 and 2021 have been, as one can say today, years of uncertainty. Where does the road lead in the face of incalculable factors like the global corona-pandemic, the russian war of aggression in Ukraine, a worsening refugee crisis and rising antidemocratic tendencies? This uncertainty creates a tense climate of fear and aggressive discourse in which societies are divided more and more, be it through emotionalized discourse, through ever-rising economical divides or simple conspiracy theories and misinformation.
