The ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Academy 2022
11. April 2022 – 21. April 2022

The project “The ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Academy – Training of Peer Coaches for Cultural Pedagogical Youth Work” (in short: RRPCA) is aimed at adolescents and young adults from a total of 5 federal states who would like to become active as peer coaches in cultural pedagogical youth work.
Adolescents / young adults (16 to 27 years) who are interested in the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Training can inform themselves and register here.
Since 2008, partner organizations in the international ROOTS & ROUTES network have jointly developed a concept and curriculum for a cultural peer coach training; for young artists from the fields of performing arts and media who would like to pass on their competencies to other peers and younger people as coaches; and who would like to build up a secondary or perhaps even main activity as junior lecturers in youth and cultural institutions or at (all-day) schools.
Binding core points of this training:
- Competencies in 3 areas are promoted: Artistic, pedagogical and “entrepreneurial” (self-management, entrepreneurship).
- The training has at least 168 h (6 x 28 h = 6 ECTS), including at least 60 seminar hours and at least 60 h of own practice hours; in addition, international exchange programs, reflection hours, etc. can be added.
- Those who successfully complete the 168 h will receive the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Certificate; this is not yet recognized by any state, but at least by 11 ROOTS & ROUTES partner organizations in 10 European countries.
In this project we cooperate with partners from different federal states. One round of the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coach Training will take place per project year. A total of 48 Peer Coaches will be trained, 32 from the cooperating federal states and 16 from Cologne/NRW. A list of the ROOTS & ROUTES Peer Coaches can be found here.
