Derya Kaptan is an interdisciplinary artist who combines singing, dancing and acting and not only lives these forms of expression on stage, but also enjoys teaching them. As a choreographer, she develops her own pieces and concepts and regularly works in national and international projects at the interface of art, education and society.
Since 2012, Derya has been a lecturer at the Institute for Dance and Movement Culture at the German Sport University Cologne and is doing her doctorate in dance/sports science. She is also active as a dance teacher and project manager in numerous socio-cultural contexts. In 2014, she founded the artist collective CrossArts Cologne, with which she works closely with RRCGN e. V., among others. In 2007 Derya was active as a participant in a ROOTS & ROUTES project for the first time; in 2013, after years of participation in local and international ROOTS & ROUTES projects, she became a founding member of RRCGN.
