From June 7 to 13, 2026, trainers and project coordinators from the ReStory project met in Larissa, Greece, for the first practical testing of the methods developed locally by the participating associations.

ReStory brings together partners from six countries: Greece, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Hungary. While the organisations share a common commitment to artistic and community-based work, they bring diverse approaches, strategies, and artistic perspectives to the project.

The meeting focused on a shared question: how can we reopen the public debate around the (re)appropriation of public spaces, placing the role of the arts—and especially the involvement of younger generations—at its centre?

Throughout the week, participants shared and tested a wide range of methods, from introspective and intellectual approaches to more energetic and physical ones. They also explored how these methods could be adapted to different local contexts and groups.

One of the most valuable aspects of the meeting was the open and constructive exchange of feedback. Participants recognised both the strengths and challenges of different approaches, while remaining open to methods that differed from their own practices.

The experience also highlighted the emotional dimension of this work. Reconnecting with the places, people, and stories encountered during the activities triggered unexpected responses and offered new perspectives on the pedagogical approach of ReStory.

The meeting provided valuable inspiration for the next stages of the project and confirmed its potential to strengthen connections between citizens and the places they inhabit—and between citizens themselves. The partners now look forward to the next steps of ReStory.
