The iJuLa Update Academy, which took place from April 3 to 12, 2023, in the picturesque surroundings of the Landesmusikakademie NRW in Heek-Nienborg, proved to be an inspiring and insightful time for all participants.
Under the guidance of our educational teams, the group focused on the essential topic of intersectionality for the project and was encouraged, both through workshops and conversations that developed among the participants, to reflect on their own privileges and perspectives.

A highlight of the event was the development of concepts for the second half of 2023 in the iJuLa room, where the participants engaged with their approach to creative conceptualization, sustainability, and awareness. Additionally, the iJuLa-Sheets, created by the RRCGN team for the Curatorium, were reviewed, discussed, and expanded upon together.

In workshops led by external speakers, theater and bodywork inputs were offered to the group as safe spaces for personal growth and self-awareness.

Furthermore, during the project trip, the previous course of the iJuLa project was collectively reflected upon, and future developments were planned.
This reflection and planning phase allowed the participants to contribute their experiences and ideas, and together set visionary goals for the future of the project, which we are excited to pursue!

Overall, the iJuLa Update Academy was a valuable opportunity for all involved to deepen their understanding of the shared project, develop personally, and actively contribute to shaping an inclusive and just society through the development of concrete approaches.

We are excited to integrate the insights and inspirations gained into our future work.

iJuLa is an RRCGN project and is funded within the framework of the federal program “Democracy Live!” by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth; additional funding comes from the Cultural Office of the City of Cologne and the DOHLE Foundation.
