What actually happens when we close our eyes?
From November 5th to 21st, 2023, our annual international encounter project took place again on the North Sea island of Baltrum.
In the project “(IN)SOMNIA – What happens when we close our eyes?”, 40 young artists from France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Turkey, and Germany focused on the themes of sleep, dreams, and related questions.
As part of the intensive exchange, they developed various artistic projects in small groups that connected the individual artistic disciplines of the participants. From media art installations to short films, music videos, multimedia performances, songs, and photographs, a diverse range of works emerged, all inspired by the thoughts, concerns, and wishes of the participants related to the theme of sleep.
The results of this interdisciplinary collaboration were presented on November 20th in Cologne, A small preview presentation was held exclusively for interested residents of Baltrum. The results will be released throughout December and will be available on our YouTube channel. Additional insights can also be found on the project page.
#INSOMNIA23 is an RRCGN project and is funded by the EU program Erasmus+ Youth and the City of Cologne.
