Kölnchella is more than just a festival!

On August 13th, participants of our project
iJuLa – intersektionale JugendLabore im Veedel” brought around 2,000 visitors to the second Kölnchella Summer Festival at the beautifully decorated grounds of the Orangery Theatre Cologne, and today they can proudly pat themselves on the back! With features like a tattoo booth, hair-cutting station, various snack options, vegan treats, and a Kissing-Corner, the entire venue offered a multifaceted program for all the senses that day.

The musical acts, including Juno Lee, Skuff Barbie, Queen Mahoro, and Soffie, delivered captivating sounds and an unforgettable atmosphere. The Kölnchella decoration team also transformed the Orangery grounds into a magical world with great attention to detail: A “Magic Mountain” invited guests to a Ligretto tournament, the “Little White Chapel” offered visitors the chance to get married in a romantic setting, and real hay bales along with handmade plush mushrooms created a cozy “Cottage Core” ambiance.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the artists, the decoration team, the organizers, the visitors, the Orangery Theatre Cologne, and the Plattform rausgegangen for making the Kölnchella Summer Festival 2023 an unforgettable event. We are already looking forward to the next Kölnchella and to once again celebrating and enjoying culture together.

The Kölnchella Festival is an event by ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e.V. (RRCGN) and is supported within the framework of the project “iJuLa – Intersectional Youth Labs in the Neighborhood,” funded by the “Democracy Live!” program of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth, the Diversity Fund NRW (Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia), and the European Solidarity Corps.
