Exciting international exchange projects for young artists: ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V. not only organizes them, but also repeatedly sends groups to such exchange projects offered by our partner organizations in other countries.

An artistic project on environmental issues in Florence/Italy: Under the slogan “No Waste!” 18 young artists from Greece, Germany and Italy spend 12 days dealing with the topic of waste: Where does it come from, what does it do to us, how can we reduce it? The group shoots documentary videos in the city and develops several modular performances, which are then performed together at PARC – Performance Arts Research Centre.

The German group of participants in this project was sent by ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V.: 6 participants and a group leader from Cologne and the surrounding area met a local group and other participants from Larissa/Greece in Florence in December 2018.

We prefer to send people to our international partners’ projects whom we have previously been able to get to know in our own projects: This way we can assess better whether it is a good fit. Therefore: If you want to travel with ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne to exciting projects in other countries, it is best to first join one of our local projects; or one of the international encounters that we organize in Germany.

Funding

Projects of our international partners are often funded by Erasmus+ and other EU programs; in addition, there are various funding programs from the respective host countries and transnational funding programs such as “Generation Europe”. ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e. V. receives basic funding from the City of Cologne as a specialized cultural education institution; this also makes large parts of our international commitment possible.
