In the Peer Coach Academy 2.0 project, we are part of the international ROOTS & ROUTES network and are developing a format in which young artists gain the highest level of expertise in peer education through our projects and those of our international partner organizations. To this end, participants complete individually selected modules to promote mutual growth and expand their European and international self-awareness in a future-oriented manner.

Building on the original ROOTS & ROUTES Academy (2008–2010), this new edition of the project shifts its focus from individual entrepreneurship to the collective impact of peer education. RRPCA 2.0 supports young artists and creatives in understanding and using their artistic practice as a tool for social cohesion, participation, and community-based change.

The project offers a modular, international training program that combines peer coach academies, online training formats, practical coaching experience, and applied project work under the supervision of international mentors. Participants complete a 168-hour learning path (equivalent to 6 ECTS) that combines theory, practical exercises, reflection, and professional guidance.

The curriculum teaches key skills for artistic peer coaches, including artistic and general pedagogy, entrepreneurship, project management, and community-based art practices. The path to becoming a peer coach is understood as a long-term learning process in which participants are supported throughout the program.

RRPCA 2.0 is implemented by a consortium of organizations from the ROOTS & ROUTES network, which is dedicated to training a new generation of socially engaged artists and youth workers.

The project is coordinated by ROOTS & ROUTES Cologne e.V. and carried out in collaboration with Synergy of Music Theatre (Larissa, Greece), Streetdance Center (Salzburg, Austria), Kaunas Cultural Centre of Various Nations (Kaunas, Lithuania), Subjective Values Foundation (Budapest, Hungary), Empreinte (Lille, France), and Centro di Creazione e Cultura (Florence, Italy).
